🥯THE BUSINESS OF BAGELS. . . Husband-and-wife team Aarti Garehgrat and Purav Patel began selling @bageldots, bite-size bagels filled with cream cheese, out of their home kitchen nearly six years ago. Garehgrat first dreamed of the concept when she was working at a fast-paced corporate job in New York, America’s bagel capital. She eventually decided to start a business and bring her idea to life. The couple’s first clients were corporations in downtown Houston, where they served Bagel Dots at breakfast meetings and events. Soon, Bagel Dots became a local favorite. Garehgrat and Patel now produce bagel dots at a @usdagov/@US_FDA-approved facility, and more than 200 grocery stores in Texas carry the treats in the frozen breakfast aisle. To transform their business from a catered corporate breakfast snack to a supermarket retail item, Garehgrat and Patel got help from SBA resource partner @SCOREMentors. “We can honestly say Bagel Dots would not be where we are today without the support and guidance of SCORE and our mentors. Every time we hit a bump along the road, our mentors were right there helping us talk through the problem and connecting us with people and services from SCORE’s network that could help,” Garehgrat said. .
